SUPPORTING CLIENTS IN CRISIS: TRAUMA-INFORMED LAW
Many attorneys have heard of trauma-informed care, and its impact on their client's experiences, but rarely are they given the tools to apply trauma-informed practices to their daily work. In this webinar, we will discuss the overview of what trauma-informed care really is (and is not), how to best help clients in crisis, and ways to identify secondary trauma in ourselves. All with the goal of increasing client retention and referrals and preventing burnout.
Dr. Laura McGuire is an internationally recognized consultant, survivor, researcher, seminarian, and author of the book “Creating Cultures of Consent and The Sexual Misconduct Prevention Guidebook: Consent and Conduct for Higher Education Campuses.” They were named as one of the 2022 Champions of Pride by The Advocate Magazine and are regularly featured in media outlets for their expertise and approachability. In 2021, they developed the world's first certification in trauma-informed care for legal professionals and offer restorative justice mediation support services.
